I love these monthly classes in the community! It is so beautiful to see others get out and stretch their artistic muscles and discover what they are capable of. We'll be working with small canvases (size 6" x 6") to ensure that we can complete the project in the time allotted for the class.

For a short time, I have some recent paintings showing at a local Golden business, Cafe 13. Not only will you find a quirky Mademoiselle Flo (shown on the art stream in a previous post), but also Jack o'Mines, inspired by Golden's School of Mines, and a painting I called "Whiskey Sour", which features a hedgehog who has perhaps put away more than is good for him, and is still asking for more. If you get the chance to check them out in person (they always look better in person), I hope these paintings make you smile. That's the goal.
It's time for our monthly community acrylics class at Golden Library! This Sunday from 12:30 to 2:00, we will be creating a flower painting Georgia O'Keefe style, while exploring the acrylic technique of Glazing. We will be creating this piece of art on a 6 x 6 canvas (quite small, but this will give us the opportunity to complete the painting in the time allotted). Georgia O'Keefe was one of those artists who became less interested in painting things as purely representational, and began exploring what she called capturing their essence. Join us as we learn a bit more about this ground-breaking artist and paint a beautiful flower by Glazing.
All supplies will be provided by the Golden Library. Although this class is full, you can always drop by on standby: last month, all our standbys found a place at the table. :) |
