This was such a beautiful piece to work on. I'm thankful to my client for giving me the range to work with, as she put it, "Ethereal colors" and for having the vision of Njal in motion. This painting was a joy to work on, from start to finish. Watch below to see it come together:
I've been working away on some amazing products. Some are all mine, and some are illustrated works by other authors. I'm excited to share three of my latest coloring books available through Amazon, now on my website, under "Illustrated Works" (beneath the CLORENART tab).
New chapters come in every life and they should be celebrated even when often, "Good-byes" are a part of the old chapter closing. Living in Golden, Colorado has been a part of my life that I have cherished, both living in the downtown Golden area, within walking distance of pubs and art events will always be a part of memories I cherish.
Recently, my partner and I decided to put down deeper roots. When the opportunity arose to move back to Northern California for a little house in the beautiful forests of the Shasta Trinity National Forest (where I grew up), we took it. Our children now have room to roam amongst the same trees I grew up loving, and a home to call their own. I am still creating: illustrating children's books, painting commissioned pieces and making my own fine art pieces.
Colorado will always hold a special place in my heart, and the memories we made there and the friends we met do, as well. I hope I will still be considered a "Golden" artist, as it was while living there, that I embraced my art dreams and ran after them full-tilt. While I will no longer be present at the community art gathering "LIT: Golden", that I started there at Foothills Art Center, the group itself lives on, and you can discover more at their website.
Thanks for everything, Golden! And thank you all for celebrating me in this new chapter, as well.
I was featured in Shout-Out Colorado! How cool is this? And be sure to check out my recommended hot spots for Downtown Golden.
Yes I AM a part of Artsweek Golden! The activities I am a part of begin tonight, July 11 from 5:30 to 8:30. Check out the video below to hear all about LIT (Let's Ignite Together) where everyone can come and get their Creative on!
This tour begins at the Golden Game Guild on July 12 and we will meander around town to view nine of our 12 locations!
Lastly, on 14th and 15th, I'll be live painting out in the mornings in front of Spirits in the Wind Gallery on Washington Avenue. Rain or shine! :) Come by and say "hi!"
I'm delighted to share that my submission for Golden's Itty Bitty Mural Competition was selected to be placed at that base of the handicap ramp on Washington and 11th. Check out the creation of this mini mural:
Late last summer, 896 wild horses were captured in a round up that took place on the pretense that too many horses on the range was bad, environmentally for that range. They were overgrazing, supposedly. Some mustangs died in the round up. Many have been stuck in pens since their capture, where now a deadly virus has been taking them out. Hundreds have died in captivity. Meanwhile, the range is now proliferated with ranchers' sheep which demolish the area they freely feed in.
For me, it has been incredibly painful to deal with internally, and for awhile, I had to take a sabbatical from painting these horses. Their suffering hurt too much. But I'm coming back with an underlying anger towards the injustice perpetrated against our mustangs and a renewed determination. It's time to start painting them again.
This painting, "Takes Two to Tango" is the beginning of that return.
The AR Art Walking Tour kicks off this week in Golden! Start at the Visitor's Center where you'll be given a map and can download the app by QR code. Watch the first painting come alive, and then you're off to see the rest of the art, hidden around downtown Golden.
I'll be showing at the Mountaineering Center this weekend as well, in the Gathering of the Guilds. Come by and chat! I'll have a piece of AR art with me for you to see, and I'll be live painting for the event.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
