Based on the title character Emily from the classic story, "Emily of New Moon", this painting showcases the imaginative Emily writing away in her yellow account book:  the place where she stores her most cherished thoughts. Emily is framed by the historic window, and a Victorian needlepoint pillow, near which her furry companion, Mike, observes her writing.
